Maxwell & McIntyre makes organic coconut oil toothpaste and natural tooth powder in small batches in Kerikeri, Northland, New Zealand. Every jar is fluoride-free, SLS-free, vegan and plastic-free, and lasts more than three months of daily brushing.

Questions, answered

Does it contain fluoride?

No. It's fluoride-free and SLS-free, with no synthetic preservatives or artificial sweeteners.

Why brush without water?

For our toothpastes, brushing without water keeps the paste in contact with your teeth for longer. Rinse with warm water after brushing.

Does it foam?

No. There's no SLS or other foaming agent, so it feels different from supermarket toothpaste. Most people are used to it within a week.

Why has my toothpaste gone firm?

Coconut oil sets in cooler temperatures. Stir in 5ml of warm water and it goes smooth and scoopable again.

How long does a jar last?

One jar gives one person 3+ months of daily brushing.

Is it suitable for children?

Many families use our Strawberry Coconut Toothpaste for kids. Use a small pea-sized amount with adult supervision, and check with your dentist or Plunket nurse about the right toothpaste for your child's age.

Tooth powder or toothpaste?

Powder is concentrated, lasts a long time and travels well. If you prefer a familiar paste texture, try our Sweet Peppermint or Baking Soda Coconut Toothpaste.
